Conservation Biology: Call for abstracts for a special issue on Trends and Future Directions in the Conservation Social Sciences

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Society for Conservation Biology’s Social Science Working Group (SSWG), this special issue aims to reflect critically on the application and integration of the social sciences into conservation science and practice. Call for Nominations: SCB Social Science Working Group Board

Nominations due by 21st April 2023 SCB’s Social Science Working Group (SSWG) requests nominations for four at-large seats on the SSWG Board to serve a three-year term, beginning in July 2023. The SSWG is a global community of conservation professionals interested in the application of the social sciences to global biodiversity conservation. Webinar: Best Practices for Effective Science Communication with Policymakers

How can we effectively increase the integration of conservation social science research into decision-making? Conservation decision-making by policymakers is routinely based on biological and ecological information, yet the potential of the social sciences to inform the decision-making process is often overlooked. SSWG at the SCB Oceania Section Conference

SSWG had a big presence at the SCB Oceania Section Conference (SCBO) that took place at the end of 2022, and jointly held with the Ecological Society of Australia. During the conference SSWG hosted a number of activities to support and connect conservation social scientists in the Oceania region.
